General Order No. 1

To: The Officers and Sir Knights of the Grand and Constituent Commanderies of Knights Templar of Kentucky:

Sir Knights, when I look at the list of my predecessors in this position, I am deeply honored that you have chosen to add my name to that list. I will make every effort to prove myself worthy of your trust and confidence. With your continuing support and assistance, we will continue to build on the rich traditions established by those men, and together meet the challenges of a promising future.

Our theme this year is: “Do Good Work.” Our Savior taught that a city on a hill cannot be hidden, that a lamp should be placed where it gives light to all, and that those who follow Him should likewise do Good Works so that our Heavenly Father might be glorified. The challenge before us as Soldiers of the Cross is to be found faithful in carrying out that commission. Support the Eye Foundation; the Holy Land Pilgrimage; the Easter Pilgrimage; hold Christmas and Easter observances; give scholarships; continue, or begin, to do all those things that many of you are already doing. Do good ritual; good tactics. Confer the Orders well. We have the most beautiful, most meaningful ritual in all of Masonry. To remain relevant, it is essential that we ‘Do Good Work’, both within and outside of, the Asylum.

Inspections will consist of a general evaluation of records, facilities, and activities of the Commandery, along with a detailed examination of the ability of the Commandery to open and confer the Orders as prescribed in the Ritual and Tactics. Please note that Grand Encampment regulations require four full-form openings within the Templar year. Inspections should be performed on the established date, but may be rescheduled with the concurrence of the Division Commander and the approval of the Grand Commander. Per Grand Commandery regulations, “annual inspection(s) … shall be scheduled on or before May 31st … and completed on or before June 30th of each Templar year.”

The health and longevity of this Grand Commandery requires all of us. Let us then work together as faithful soldiers of the Cross, to ‘Do Good Work’ in the name of the Blessed Emmanuel, to the glory of our heavenly Father. Above all, Sir Knights, continue His faithful soldiers, unto death.
